Aerial photos of Scientology Gold Base

The Scientologists are so secretive there that the sight of another flying camera crew buzzing their compound has got to drive them nuts. Or at least nutser. They are pretty crazy already. And it's all because one of their most famous members, Tom Cruise, got served with divorce papers. Preposterous. Only a flock of winged monkeys could upset them more than the Splash News spy plane.

In September 2011 Scientology protester Mark Bunker got an aerial tour of Gold Base in a helicopter to gather material for the Scientology movie he is putting together at his website XenuTV.com . This is a now defunct website he let slide. Stupid! There are some interesting things to see on Google Earth of the property but nothing beats what Mark did, buzz the place and send the residents inside! You'll notice there are very few people visible and not many cars. Gold Base personnel are forbidden to own cars. Maybe very few people live at Gold now, or maybe they are all just inside hiding which is standard procedure during protests and raids.

This demonstrates the difficulty of guessing what is going on inside a closed compound. How many people are at the base? There used to be so many Sea Orgers working there they were bussed in from private housing nearby. No longer. The white busses which brought them in are long gone. And when protesters arrive everyone goes inside. Even when randomly driving by the huge compound almost nobody can be seen. Best guess intuition of what is going on? About 400 people there.

Bunker's trip can do nothing but make them even more paranoid!

Bonnie View is a house built for a dead guy ... or is he really dead?	Baseball diamond - empty - no wear and tear	The soundstages look like a castle and the ever present lakes say "we are so rich we can waste desert water." The edge of a sewage lake can be seen at far left.
Central Gold Base and main entrance - plantings, curbs and traffic islands on the public roads are designed to minimize protesting. Hopefully protesters will get run over.	Much land on Gold Base is devoted to the public golf course. Another desert water waster.	Massacre Canyon Inn is the cafeteria named after the land's previous owner.
Break area at the Religious Technology Center building.	The bar is built to look like a ship and has it's own parrot cage. Probably for guests like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman only.	TThis robotic video camera sits in what is called the "sniper's nest"
This storage area is built to look like a church but it is not. The steeple was recycled from another building.	Tennis courts - empty - no wear and tear	Higher elevations of the property would be spared liquefaction if an earthquake occurred. But they would also be subject to more avalanches as the the already slide prone terrain gives way.
For desert dwellers Scientologists waste a lot of water

Mark Bunker	"Bonnie Bell" is the huge mansion built for the return of cult founder L. Ron Hubbard, whenever that may be. He seems to be taking his time coming back.	The massive and lush RTC Building is the office of cult leader David Miscavige. He has punished so many subordinates that he is just about the only person in the building now.
Look closely at this blurry photo and you'll see one of the robotic cameras placed on the hillside to surveille the property below, especially the entrances. Also called "the snipers nest." The two white roofed buildings in the center of this photo is the "SP Hall". Here cultists who are being punished are kept locked up, perhaps for years at a time.
